All for A Hot Dog.
February 11, 2011 | in Driver Safety For You & Your FamilyHave you ever been sitting in the traffic lane that is immobile in rush hour traffic while other lanes have a smooth flow of traffic and wondered how you ended there? Well I have and if you are like me, this can be quite frustrating.
During rush hour I noticed a truck trying to turn on a very busy road. The scenario looked dangerous and I thought, “There must be a sign somewhere. He is holding up traffic and that turn is very dangerous.” There it was. A do not turn sign near the traffic light that could not be missed. I immediately thought about online driver safety-a tool that drivers need and in most cases do not know they need it.
According to DefensiveDriving.com:
When making a turn, you should follow these general guidelines:
- Make up your mind to turn before you arrive at the turn.
- Look before you change lanes, checking your blind spots over your shoulder and in your mirror.
- Move into the proper lane as soon as possible.
- Give the proper turn signal at least 100 feet before you turn.
- Check left, check right, and check left again.
- Make the turn correctly.
As the light approached red, the driver finally seized the opportunity to turn. The driver turned into a hot dog fast food restaurant. There was ton of traffic back-up and a situation that really could have been fatal-All for a hot dog.
