Are You Afraid of Big Rigs?
December 28, 2010 | in Driver Safety For You & Your FamilyMany people are afraid to drive near big rigs. This is true when it comes to the roads as well as the highways. There are ways to properly and safely interact with big rigs. Recent statistics show that one out of every eight traffic fatalities resulted from a crash involving a large truck.
Luckily, there are ways to avoid crashes with these big rigs. This is described in the safety driving video brought to you by DefensiveDriving.com:
“If you travel in the trucker’s blind spot … you could put yourself and the trucker in danger. A general rule is … if you can’t see the truck driver in his or her side mirror, then he or she can’t see you. Even if you are not in the trucker’s blind spot … don’t linger alongside. Move on ahead. Otherwise, you make it difficult if not impossible for the truck driver to get out of the way if an obstacle appears on the road ahead.”
Remember, never assume that other drivers see you. A mistaken right-of-way or driving maneuver can be detrimental. Learn more about driver safety tips from the best safety driving video in the market today-WheelsinMotion.com.
