Are you scared?
September 28, 2010 | in The Daily DriveAAA recently released a study, which indicates 52% of the people surveyed are more scared today than they were 5 years ago… why? Individuals indicated it is due to the number of drivers who are behind the wheel driving while using their cell phones or to text and are driving distracted.
Which brings me back to my blog from September 20 and the bus driver. Turns out this guy was suspended in June for … you guessed it, using his cell phone. Apparently this guy wants to do anything besides drive his bus. Time for a career change. What is even scarier, is the guy was fired in 2006 – for literally “kicking” a passenger off of the bus.
This type of repeat problematic behavior is a huge liability for the bus drivers employer. They need a comprehensive driver safety policy, which emphasizes a corporate driver training program and ties in tracking and monitoring of employee behavior. DefensiveDriving.com could help a company like this because it could be argued in the negligent entrustment claim they had provided training on the dangers related to unsafe driving behavior and illustrated throughout our safety driving video.
What about you? Are you scared? I know I am and I will not be riding a bus in the Pacific Northwest any time soon.
