Do All New Cars Come With XM Radio?
January 22, 2013 | in Defensive Driving TipsAre you the kind of driver that loves listening to radio while you drive? Do the smooth sounds calm you down and help you deal with the rampant drivers all around you? Maybe you enjoy a good radio talk show for entertainment since your drive is so boring. The only problem with traditional radio is that you are pretty much stuck listening to whatever the DJ chooses to play, oh yeah, and you have to listen to commercials. Ah, those dreaded commercials. They always seem to come on at the most stressful parts of the drive, too.
So what are my options?
Well, you could become a distracted driver by attempting to change the radio station whenever a commercial comes on. But since “each day, more than 15 people are killed and more than 1,200 people are injured in crashes that were reported to involve a distracted driver,” according to the CDC, you may want to reconsider. This makes satellite radio a great option. Satellite radio is an abundance of channels that you can listen to commercial free. No commercials means no need to change the channel. Yippee! Drivers everywhere can rejoice! The satellite radio is separated by genre and even includes a variety of news and entertainment channels. There are even many celebrities, like Oprah and Howard Stern, that have exclusive talk channels on satellite radio. Whatever you like to listen to, you can find it on satellite radio. And yes, that even includes show tunes, if that’s your fancy.
How do I get it?
If you are in the market for a new car, you are in luck. The majority of new cars come equipped with SiriusXM satellite radio. If you have certain car in mind that you want, chances are it will have the SiriusXM radio already installed. In fact, not only are most vehicles equipped with this new technology, they also include a free trial.
