Driving While Intoxicated
December 2, 2011 | in Driving DistractionsWe all know that driving while intoxicated is not only illegal but also life threatening. Driving while intoxicated can affect your driver’s license, your life, and the life others. If you choose to drink, drink responsibly so that you will not harm yourself or others. Here is an example of what may happen if you decide to drive after a few drinks:
You’re at a party having the best time of your life. The drinks are flowing and the music is blasting. After a few hours of partying, a few drinks, and some crazy dancing, you decide it’s time to go home. You tell your friends you’re leaving and they tell you that you’re too drunk to drive. Your response is, “I’m fine I’ve only had a few drinks.” You get in your car and speed out of the parking lot. In your mind you’re thinking, “I’ve taken a state approved defensive driving course so I know that driving while intoxicated is wrong.” Despite your thoughts, you continue driving irresponsibly.
You’re going 100 mph and all of sudden a siren and lights go off behind you. You pull over and an officer appears at your window. You let the window down and the officer says, “Ma’am you were driving pretty fast.” The officer then asks for your driver’s license and registration. The officer reviews your information and asks if you’ve been drinking tonight. You then tell the officer you may have had 1 or 2 drinks. The officer then asks you to step out the car so that he can examine your blood alcohol content level. The officer administers a few tests and you fail miserably. You’re now in cuffs, on your way to jail.
