Did you know that driving after taking prescription drugs is the equivalent of driving drunk? You could be charged with a DWI if you are caught driving under the influence of prescription drugs.
Unfortunately, Michelle Galvan of Houston, Texas learned this the hard way. I’ve always known to have a designated driver if I planned on driving, but thanks to DefensiveDriving.com’s driver safety course I now know to have a designated driver if I’m taking prescription drugs as well. While this was clearly a mistake for Ms. Galvan, had she planned ahead she could have possibly avoided being thrown in jail.
