Hero’s – who drives you?April 22, 2010 | in The Daily Drive
As I was driving in to work during my daily commute today, I got to listen to all of the chatter related to Ben Roethlisberger on sports talk radio. It is funny to me how just listening to a radio can equate to distracted driving, but I clearly was not focused on the task of driving safely, I was distracted.
I am bound to think Big Ben is now Tiger Wood’s best friend, taking all the deserved bad press away from him. We put these athletes on a pedestal and call them hero’s – just because they play games better than most. But these are two fairly bad people and as the father of a daughter, I will never again support either and we all should stop routing for them to succeed or purchase products they support. They are indicative of a society where too many people believe they are entitled to something because we have given them a sense they are.
The true hero’s out there are the men and women who day in and day out put their lives on the line in our armed forces to protect our freedom, including idiots like Woods and Roethlisberger, from those who want to do away with our way of life. Steeler Nation – Big Ben has brought you shame… Nike – what are you thinking?
Now that I have I am off of my pedestal about those two famously irresponsible individuals, the shameless plug!
