The New Defensive Driving: The Sky
July 15, 2010 | in The Daily DriveIn a conversation I was having with my mother, she mentioned one of her co-workers was the “test pilot” for a new flying car. Hmmm how does that work? Well sure enough, if you go to www.terrafugia.com you can see the plane that drives. The company is not selling it as a car that flies but as a plane that drives, which I get to mean they really want people to have a pilots license before they start letting people drive these things.
Where will employee driving be in 2020? What will driving safety school look like when the vehicle you use also flies? Do you need a drivers license or a pilots license? Will your cell phone work in the air? Distracted driving would take on a whole new level of risk… or would it? Is it anymore dangerous than driving today?
The Jetson’s are a whole lot closer than you think! Although at $194,000 a piece, I do not think they are commercially viable yet, but they have already sold 70 and the real kicker for me – it runs on High Octane unleaded… not jet fuel.
