Lend a helping hand?
July 28, 2011 | in The Daily DriveToday’s drive was all about hanging on to something other than the wheel.
Lots of left hands casually hanging out the window, one lady was using her left had to press a towel against the side of her face, not sure if it was a towel or bandage, another guy had his left hand firmly holding on the the oh crap bar on the drivers side, while driving and the kicker goes to the Black Escalade Truck… who’s driver decided he did not need hands, knees are adequate while the all important text or email was answered. I am sure whoever his boss is, that email or text could have waited.
So all these people, none of them were exercising a fundamental necessity to increasing reaction time, something our online driver safety course discusses, keeping both hands on the wheel. Two hands prevent overturning, improve reaction time and help us properly control our vehicle. Plus, as an added little bonus, having our hands, both of them, keeps us from having a free hand to do other things which are not related to driving, which might be a good thing for all us to try.
