New Year’s Defensive Driving

The daily death toll from drunk driving crashes during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period is significantly higher than during the rest of the year. As a Defensive Driving course, we know all the loss and can happen if you drive while drunk.
Here are a few tips to stay safe this New Year’s:
1.Don’t Drink and Drive
2.Have a designated driver – plan ahead and have a ride home
3.Call a taxi – if you are in a group, you can split the cab fare
4.Call a friend – contact a sober friend to give you a ride home
5.Call a tow truck – have them tow your vehicle home
6.Call your parents or relatives – they would rather pick you up than get you out of jail
7.Plan on staying the night at your location
As a Driver Safety course , we can say for certain that during the holidays there will be a strong presence made by police officers to prevent drunk driving accidents.Officers will have zero tolerance for anyone behind the wheel of a motor vehicle after drinking alcoholic beverages. Here are some alarming tips to remember if think about Drinking while driving:
-DWI is a misdemeanor B and comes with a punishment of a fine up to $2,000
-3 to 180 days in jail
-loss of a driver’s license up to a year
-annual fees of $1000 to keep your license valid.
Those penalties are just for first time offenders with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 to 0.15. After that it gets tougher with increased fines and penalties. Please keep these tips and penalties in mind as your party and travel during the holiday season.
