Passenger Rider

Being a passenger in a vehicle can be a stressful situation. Think about it. You’re putting your life in someone else’s hands as a passenger in someone else’s car. Here’s a twist; that someone else happens to be your young driver. Has the panic set in for some of you yet? I see you over there clinching on to your seat belt, white knuckling the door handle, and using your imaginary brake pedal as you ever so lovingly instruct your child to “Don’t drive so close behind that car!” , “Using your brakes like that will cause whiplash” or” Use your turn signal light. “My ultimate favorite, “Drive any faster, we are going back in time”. All he does is look at you with that smile, and say “I can drive Mommy”.
It’s not just your child’s driving that you have to worry about but other drivers on the road as well. Being a passenger on a bus, train or plane, you are still putting your life in someone else’s hands. However, just knowing that the driver has taken a state approved driver safety course as part of his company’s fleet driver training will ease your mind. Corporations are realizing that the employee driving is a representation of the company and that part of a good fleet driver training program includes an approved driver safety course. A defensive driving course educates on how to become e a safe and more alert driver. You are not just on the road driving for yourself, but as a safe driver for your passenger.
