Do I Have To Tell You? Don’t Drink and Drive!…
October 13, 2011 | in Rules of the Road: Driving TipsIt seems pretty strange that everyone in the country knows drinking and driving is a bad thing, but yet people are arrested for driving under the influence pretty regularly. What’s worse is that crashes blamed on intoxication are occurring more frequently than should be. It’s pretty sad, but when we’re intoxicated, we make really poor choices. Alcohol does impair judgment, and no matter how many drinking and driving commercials are out there, people will continue to ignore them when they’re drunk. There needs to be a better way to reduce cases of drunk driving.
Whether you have driven drunk in the past or have a close friend who has driven drunk or continues to drive drunk on occasion, you probably understand that good people can make really stupid decisions under the influence of alcohol. So instead of feeling bad the next day about driving drunk or chastising a friend over drinking and getting behind the wheel, actually make a plan before the party starts and before either you or a friend/family member/colleague gets behind the wheel after too many drinks. Taking a taxi to/from a party, handing your keys to friend, asking for the keys of a friend who’s drinking, and other strategies can certainly do a lot to prevent you or your close friends, family, or colleagues from making a really poor decision.
You already know that drinking and driving is bad, but you also realize that drunk people will drive drunk even though they know such an action is a horrible idea. So make sure that you do your part to reduce the chances of someone (perhaps you) getting behind the wheel after a few too many drinks.
