Make Sure that Other Drivers Know You’re There…
March 27, 2011 | in Rules of the Road: Driving TipsSometimes being completely anonymous is a good thing, but when it comes to driving, this is not the case at all. Without a doubt, not making your presence known to other drivers can be dangerous, and so it’s extremely important that you take the necessary steps needed to make your road presence known to others around you; doing so will certainly help to keep you and others safe!
Making it easy for other drivers to see you first means making sure that all of your car’s lights are working properly — that means you should ensure that your headlights, brake lights, turning signals, and even emergency lights are functional. After ensuring that all of your lights are working properly, make sure that you actually use them! We all know how annoying it can be to follow someone who doesn’t’t use his or her turn signals, so when on the road, be sure to let others know what you are doing. If you are turning, then flip on your blinkers and make sure that others know your intentions.
Your horns are there for a reason also! Although you should not go horn crazy and honk whenever you get angry, using your car’s horn can be a good thing, such as when you are in need of getting another driver’s immediate attention in order to prevent a dangerous situation from occurring. Needless to say, making sure that other drivers know you are there can certainly help to keep you and others on the road safe and sound! Be sure to learn more today by taking a high quality defensive driving course.
