Minimize Distractions, Minimize Accidents
March 12, 2011 | in Rules of the Road: Driving TipsMost of us have either experienced or know someone who has experienced a car accident (minor or major) which occurred as a result of a distracted driver. Undoubtedly, distractions can be deadly and should be minimized as much as possible so that the focus can be placed on the road and good driving behavior rather than elsewhere. There is no question that minimizing or eliminating distractions can lead to better and safer driving!
Making phone calls, sending text messages, changing CDs, and looking at something interesting on the side of the road have all led to serious accidents, and what is the saddest thing about this is that all of these distractions are very simple to avoid. If you are someone who is easily distracted, then you should recognize just how dangerous such distractions can be; indeed, even the most ‘careful’ of people can end up getting into a wreck as a result of being distracted.
Minimizing distractions is not very difficult to do! All you have to do is recognize that keeping your eyes, ears, and thoughts on the road is of utmost importance, and if you do have an important phone call to make, text message to send, or are perhaps having your thoughts wander too much, then it’s certainly okay to pull over (safely) so that your distractions will not interfere with your ability to drive safely. Be sure to learn more today about how you can continue to stay safe on the road!
