Spend a Few Minutes Now to Save Time and Money…September 23, 2011 | in Rules of the Road: Driving Tips
Are you checking to make sure all of the lights on your car are working properly before each and every time you get behind the wheel? Of course not, that simply wouldn’t be prudent nor is it necessary. However, you should be taking a quick visual assessment of your car on a regular basis. For example, taking a look at the amount of air in your tires before getting in could save you a lot of time and stress if the alternative is getting a flat a mile or two down the road.
Drivers often take their cars for granted and that’s a mistake they pay for. It’s not feasible for you to inspect your car before every trip but you’re probably not doing it enough. How much time would it take for you to check the oil and other standard fluids each time you fill up your gas tank? No more than a few extra minutes. We’re all busy and it seems as if we’re always in a hurry but taking a few minutes now can help you avoid longer delays when they’ll be more costly.
If you’re a driver who is greeted by a loud stereo each time you turn on your car, then it’s possible your engine could be making noises that should serve as a warning but you won’t hear them. It’s a good idea to turn on your engine, turn down the volume on the radio and take a listen to how your car is running. Something out of the ordinary could be a sign that it’s time to see a mechanic.← Safety Inside the Vehicle | Changing Leaves, Changing Driving Conditions →
