Safe weekend?
June 1, 2010 | in The Daily DriveWe hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday weekend! Anyone who traveled anywhere this weekend had to see law enforcement was out in full force, but with good reason, given the history of this holiday weekend. In Connecticut, State Police responded to 240 accidents, one fatal over the weekend. If you take that number and assume that is average for entire country, you are talking about 12,000 accidents in a three day period. Further, Connecticut State Police issued 1729 speeding tickets, 944 driving without a seat belt tickets and 76 DUI’s. If you consider this was going on nationwide, over 135,000 tickets were issued over three days… on average of 45,000 a day.
The folks in Texas and Florida can use DefensiveDriving.com’s defensive driving course or our Florida Approved Traffic School for Basic Driver Improvement to ensure ticket dismissal or point reduction. DefensiveDriving.com will soon be offering defensive driving courses and traffic school for ticket dismissal or point reduction in over half the country, so stay tuned. That being said, check with your court or insurance agent, they may accept our course for ticket dismissal, point reduction or for an insurance discount anyway.
$20 million dollars in fines were issued this weekend – if you assume the average speeding ticket cost just $150. This does not take into the negative impact the ticket will have on your auto insurance.
