Risky Driver of the Blue Convertible
June 7, 2010 | in The Daily DriveThere were more drivers and passengers involved than just yourself. I was driving home from a 4 year old’s birthday party in Sugarland on Saturday with my kids and we witnessed an extremely unusual and dangerous driving situation. A young lady was darting in and out of traffic, which was already moving at 70+ in her baby blue CLK convertible. My twelve year old observed the driver needed to go back to driving school as she had her left turn signal on but was going right. I let my son know it is more likely she had way too much to drink, which is pretty pathetic given the fact it was 1245 in the afternoon.
If she was not intoxicated, she needed to exercise more mature driving skills, as she was driving way too fast. Less than a minute later, traffic came to a dead stop, as the lady and her convertible were sideways on a four lane highway! There was a van pulled over to the left, so either this employee driving had been hit by this idiot or he had witnessed what happened and pulled over. Not to be deterred, this woman, who I strongly suspect was intoxicated, sped off. The employee driving in the van took chase, but she was moving yet again. Leaving the scene is a crime!
I did not get a good look at the license plate but hopefully someone did and this young lady is no longer putting the rest of us at risk. It really drove home the point for my son how important driver programs like mine are. So I hope we all take a minute and think before we drive and realize, it is not just us, there are people on the road with us and it is our responsibility to be safe!
