What’s it really cost?
April 26, 2010 | in The Daily DriveOn Friday morning, it was a slow day on the Houston freeways. Only six accidents were reported and the commute was relatively easy. That being said, it was a bad day for at least six people. According to the Texas Transportation Institute, Houston has the fourth worst congestion in the country, that 50% of delays experienced on the road way are due to traffic “incidents”, congestion in Houston costs each driver in Houston 56 hours (over one work week!) in traffic delays and we lose over $1100 per driver every year ($2.4 million) in lost time, wages and fuel due to congestion – which is due to accidents. Check out mobility.tamu.edu/ums/congestion_data/tables/houston.pdf it is staggering. If you are an employee driving, whether to or from work, you stand to lose real money every year due to someone else or you, not driving safely or exercising mature driving or defensive driving habits.
Driving is something we all do and we should drive safer. Check out www.defensivedriving.com. We can help.
Be Safe!
