UK Testing Electric Highways to Power Cars

Posted on by Defensive Driving | in Car Stuff, Defensive Driving Online, news

The United Kingdom is holding off-road trials for new electric highways that could power electric and hybrid vehicles while they drive.

They will do so using “dynamic wireless transfer” technologies, the cars fitted with wireless equipment that links to below ground technology.

Chief Highways Engineer Mike Wilson says that “the off road trials of wireless power technology will help to create a more sustainable road network for England and open up new opportunities for businesses that transport goods across the country.”

If this catches on, we could be seeing the very first roads of the future! To read more about this, head over to Wired.
