Best Lesson of Snow-pocalypse of 2011

Posted on by Defensive Driving | in Rules of the Road: Driving Tips

“Unbelievable” is just one of the words that may have flown around during the recent “snow-pocalypse” of 2011. Tremendous snow, high winds, low or zero visibility, below-freezing temperatures, and even “thundersnow” were all experienced by a large swath of the population in states ranging from New Mexico and Texas all the way to Maine. Incredible pictures and video of cars being pummeled by the elements have come in, and without a doubt, if there is one lesson to take away from this tremendous blizzard of the new year, it’s this: don’t drive during apocalyptic weather conditions!

Don’t mess with Mother Nature! As pictures, video, and testimony from those who dared venture out during the snowpocalypse of 2011 can confirm, Mother Nature is a mighty force, and it seems that those who dare question Mother Nature’s power will be punished mightily, especially those who dare attempt to drive in such horrible conditions. Needless to say, driving should not be attempted under any circumstance during blizzard conditions, except of course, only in the case of emergency. However, for those who absolutely must drive in such bad conditions, it’s extremely important to remember that emergency supplies need to be in the car at all times; this includes a cell phone, warm blankets, flashlight, extra batteries, and other important emergency items.

Driving in winter conditions is not fun, but driving in blizzard conditions is dangerous! Be sure to stay safe no matter what the weather condition happens to be, and also be sure to learn more by taking a high quality defensive driving course.
