Cruising to the Music

Most driver’s don’t realize the impact that music has on driver safety. A lot a young drivers like to play loud music as they drive. But what they don’t realize is the loud music could be putting them and their passengers in danger. What if you are about to be in a wreck, but your music is too loud to hear the other driver’s horn? The accident could possibly be avoided if you are able to hear the horn, and get out of the way. What if an emergency vehicle is going through a red light, but your music is too loud to hear the sirens? You could be ticketed for failing to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle, or even worse, the impact of the speeding emergency vehicle could be fatal.
Driver’s who listen to faster music tend to driver faster than a driver who is listening to slower music. This means listening to fast music puts you at a greater risk of receiving a traffic citation. Researchers have said that drivers listening to fast music in their cars are likely to have twice as many accidents as drivers who listen to slower songs.
Driver’s should always be safe. It is okay to listen to music while driving, but don’t let it distract you.
