Florida Driver Safety

 
I recently read a drunk driving story similar to a story in DefensiveDriving.com’s Florida defensive driving course.  According to the New York Times, drunk driver, John Goodman, hit a vehicle, causing it to land in a drainage ditch. The driver of the vehicle suffered unconsciousness and eventually drowned.

As described in the traffic school course, Vanessa Montague’s daughter, Mandy was a passenger of a vehicle with a drunk driver. The vehicle was involved in an accident resulting in the drunk driver leaving Mandy to ultimately die of suffocation.

While the story is compelling, it highlights an issue that all drivers should be aware of: vehicular manslaughter. Vehicular manslaughter in general, involves death that results from the negligent operation of a vehicle. There are driver rules and skills, varying by state, that everyone should know.
