Pay Your Parking Tickets!

During recent doctor visits in the Houston Medical Center, I have become well acquainted with the parking ticket process. You don’t see a sign that’s been hit a few times and laying besides a tree and voila! you have a parking citation. The worst part of the citation process is that it upsets your day and you have to remember to pay them; If not there are consequences.

I have learned the hard way. The City of Houston is turning outstanding tickets over to a collection agency….a great way to bring your credit score down. During the morning news, I even learned of interstate compacts that will allow parking tickets to follow you state-to-state and can prevent you from getting a license in another state.

Even worse, vehicles that have three or more outstanding citations (90 days overdue) are boot-eligible. There are boot fees as well.

Here is something that can help us all, defensive driving. I have found that for many, defensive driving is not only useful for citation dismissal, but is a great refresher course.

If you take a course for education purposes only and later receive a citation, you are eligible to take the course again for court purposes.
