How to Keep A Clean Driving RecordFebruary 24, 2017 | in Defensive Driving Tips
Keeping a clean driving record will help you have peace of mind. Not only will you avoid the risk of getting your license revoked, but you’ll also keep yourself and those around you a lot safer.
So how can you keep a clean driving record? Here are some simple tips.
1. Drive safely and obey all traffic laws
This one’s a no-brainer, but sadly it’s not always followed. If you obey traffic laws and make an effort to drive safely, you’ll avoid tickets in the first place. While speeding may get you where you need to go more quickly, if you get nailed with a ticket, your driving record will get blemished and that’s enough to ruin anyone’s day. Leave earlier, drive the speed limit, take a deep breath, and be patient.
2. Take a state-approved driving safety course
Also referred to as “traffic school,” occasionally a driving safety course will allow you to get out of minor tickets and violations altogether. Other times, the course will simply keep the ticket from going on your permanent driving record. Either way, a driving safety course is a good way to refresh your knowledge of basic driving rules and stay safe out there on the road.
3. Keep a clean driving record for a certain period of time
The longer you go without getting a traffic ticket, the better. Some violations will stay on your record for a few years and others will clear sooner. If you do happen to get a ticket, the best thing you can do is avoid getting another one. If you get too many tickets in succession, you could be in danger of getting your license revoked.
